Peter Marriott and Corrupt Culture

Alongside ANZ’s CEO sits Peter Marriott the CFO during the recent [April 2008] Opus Prime debacle. I have known Marriott for many years since his KPMG days. I considered him of having some integrity. However in the past he has blindly supported what I have openly coined the ANZ’s Corrupt Culture which allows executives to ignore the ANZ Values.

These Values have two clear elements - firstly those that have some legal force and those that are ethically/morally based. ANZ may abide by the first of these elements but when it comes to understanding and applying the ethically based elements they are morally bankrupt. Their latest attempt to defend their Opus Prime position support my claim that ANZ has a Corrupt Culture.
